Iban Navarro
iban navarro was born, in 1982. the son of the great still life and realist painter jesus navarro. born in barcelona he soon showed an interest in his fathers work. he was very much encouraged by his father to experiment in using difficult mediums to create a unique style. having a unique style he advised is more likely to guarantee you success in the world if art. iban took this advice and worked very hard with the medium of tempera. this is an ancient method of mixing watercolor with egg yoke and occasionally with oily pastel added. although an ancient technique, there are very few artists who are able to master the unforgiving nature of tempera as it dries the second it is applied to the paper.... more
at the age of 20 he was invited to exhibit works at el corte ingles in barcelona, a great honor for such a young artist. he has since exhibited there many times he then was given an opportunity to show work in a gallery in california. although this proved successful to start with it turned out to be not what iban had been led to believe! now at the age of only 31 he is recognized as one of the worlds leading realist painters after winning 1st prize in 2011 of the premis d’art autocugat winning £12,000.
