Some months ago Breeze art galleries commissioned one of our favourite Scottish artists, John Mackie, to create some original art work of the Scottish borders town where we opened our very first gallery; Peebles. Of course, since that time we now have galleries in Edinburgh in Jenners, Glasgow in House of Frasers and at Loch Lomond Shores.
John Mackie managed to produce in these original paintings wonderfully evocative scenes of the borders town which have been admired wherever they’ve been shown.

We talked about the launch of the stunning new collection by Scottish artist, Alexander Millar, at the start of June where breeze was delighted to be able to offer two footballs, signed by the artist himself, to raise money for http://www.borderschildrenscharity.org.uk/. At that time the first of these prized items had already been sold and raised over £700 for this worthwhile charity.
It gives us great pleasure to announce the winner of the second football signed by Alex Millar himself. The lucky recipient of this and an original Alexander Millar signed sketch is Mr. Gordon Noble. Congratulations to you and everyone here at breeze hopes that you enjoy these two unique pieces of art work.
The footballs were used as inspiration for the new Alexander Millar originals, Alexander Millar limited edition prints and pencil sketches that are available in breeze galleries in Peebles, Jenners in Edinburgh and Loch Lomond Shores. Here in the UK we are enjoying a wonderful spell of warm, summer weather which is something that is especially appreciated after such a long, harsh winter! Breeze Art Gallery in Peebles are inviting children from Primary 1 to senior students at Peebles High School to take part in an exhibition they are running in conjunction with The Peebles Arts Festival and The Exhibition Trail.
Breeze are asking the children what living in the Borders means to them or what does the Beltane mean to them and asking them to tell their story in a painting or drawing.
This is an exciting opportunity to encourage the arts in our children and also to encourage our children to express themselves in different ways.
Please let the gallery know if you would like your child to participate. All entrants must be on an A4 sheet of paper with the child’s` name, school and class printed clearly on the back, and the closing date for accepting the entries in the gallery is Friday 2nd July 2010.
Winners will be announced and entries will be displayed in the gallery on Saturday 18th August and there will be a window dedicated to the children’s work during the week of the Peebles Arts Festival and the Exhibition Trail.
We will split the entrants into appropriate age categories. For winners in the older groups, a master class will be arranged with a top UK artist.
Younger category winners will receive a fabulous painting kit courtesy of Breeze.
And who knows, maybe one of these talented youngsters will go on to to create such wonderful, original art work as that of Alexander Millar, Bob Dylan, Rolf Harris or Fabian Perez
A recent visit by John Mackie to the breeze head office was an exciting event as John was delivering 6 outstanding original pastels, three small artworks depicting scenes from Glasgow and Edinburgh, two scenes from Venice and an avenue scene from Montpelier, France.
These wonderful original works of art are currently being framed and will be appearing in all galleries in the next week or so. To take a sneak preview customers can follow this link to see the pieces. Any artworks can be transported to the gallery of a customer’s choice for ease of viewing so simply call your nearest gallery without delay.
The breeze gallery in Glasgow is now only four weeks away for the first ever Rolf Harris event. Gallery manager Gordon Mackie stated that he has seen constant requests for Rolf Harris art work since opening in October last year, but this coming event where we will have all his latest collection of signed limited editions along with rare and very collectable originals on display.

Following a personal appearance by Fabian Perez at the breeze Glasgow gallery the amount of enquiries for Fabian’s work has continued with no let up.
Pictured above are some examples of Fabian’s evocative art work, currently available as limited edition prints. Breeze have recently acquired some rare original oils which can be seen upon request. Following the outstanding turnout at the breeze event the artists manager stated the breeze and the Glasgow public have illustrated that there is big demand for Fabians work.
The breeze gallery is delighted to announce that Steve is now well on the way to recover following his motorbike accident earlier this year. The breeze gallery art director Bob Corsie commented; “Steve’s work has always sold well in our galleries and we are really pleased at the news that Steve is inching closer to full recovery week on week and hopes to be painting again soon”.

Bob Corsie, Managing Director of the breeze galleries, had a wonderful time last year when he was lucky enough to go and see Bob Dylan at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
The great man is on tour again but is unable to play live in Scotland this time round. His only UK appearance is at the Hop Farm Festival in Kent on July 3rd.

Exciting news: breeze gallery have secured a stunning collection of new and exciting originals painted by Philip Raskin.
The stunning collection of over twenty originals is sure to create an amazing display for his coming appearance this weekend.
Born in Glasgow Philip has been selling his art in Scotland for many years, but following a career in the restaurant and pub trade Philip is now focused totally on his art. Bob Corsie breeze art director stated; “I believe Philip s work is going form strength to strength, his technique is truly amazing with his creative use of thick layered oils which convey the motion and textures of the sea and rocky landscaped which he paints.”
Our gallery manager in Peebles recently had the pleasure talking to a couple who were on holiday in Scotland from Belgium. They had been traveling through Scotland and discovered the breeze art gallery on the way back to Edinburgh airport. The couple instantly fell in love with the range of originals, limited edition prints and sculptures that breeze had to offer and especially with Scottish artist, Alexander Millar.
The team at breeze used our art search programme to source the perfect Alexander Millar original pencil sketch; “Let’s Fly”.
After contacting the couple back home in Belgium, our customer was able to present this fantastic original art work for his wife’s birthday.
With our collection of Bob Dylan Drawn Blank Series 2010 art work currently on display we like to set the right tone and complete the Dylan ambiance by playing some of his greatest hits in the galleries.
Whilst chatting to some customers who were torn between buying the fabulous Horse or Bicycle – which was one of the most popular pieces of art from Bob Dylan’s previous collections – one of Dylan’s songs, “If NotFor You” started playing on the gallery music system. Talk of which limited edition they preferred was interupted while our customers debated which version they thought was better; the original Bob Dylan version or the version by ex-Beatle George Harrison!
Of course we are biased and would have to say the Bob Dylan original – although we would be equally torn if faced with the decision of which Bob Dylan limited edition art work to buy. The 2010 Drawn Blank Series is so good, making a choice would be almost impossible!

This important event will bring together a fantastic portfolio limited editions, original paintings and sculpture from Britain’s best loved artist.
Born in Perth, Western Australia, Rolf has always loved art; Even before he went to Primary School, whenever anyone asked him “What are you going to be when you grow up?” his immediate response was “An artist!”.
In the mid 1950′s, for two years running, some of Rolf’s paintings were featured in the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy. While painting continued to be a private passion of his, it was for his television and stage performances that Rolf became a household name. In recent years Rolf has devoted more time to painting and has had a number of one-man shows, including the Rolf on Art exhibition at the National Gallery.
Rolf has been awarded the CBE, is a member of the Order of Australia and has won many awards for his work in the entertainment industry. Recently he was made an honorary member of the Royal Society of British Artists. His portrait of Her Majesty The Queen, commissioned by the BBC to celebrate her eightieth birthday, was the subject of a BBC1 programme ‘The Queen, by Rolf’ which was screened on New Year’s Day 2006.

One of the best part of what we do is finding the perfect piece of art work for our customers. This was perfectly illustrated last week at our gallery in Peebles where our manager, Elizabeth, overheard one part of a conversation that a couple were having whilst browsing our collection of Alexander Millar originals and limited editions.
Although the lady in question loved the art work that we had on display, and later told us that she is a big fan of all of artist, Alexander Millar’s work, the piece she was desperate to buy was called “Jig For Jack”. This wonderful limited edition print is now quite rare, having been sold out at the publisher. However, our ever resourceful gallery manager was able to save the day by tracking down one of the few remaining copies of this art work for our customer.

Philip Raskin was born in 1947 and studied at the Glasgow School of Art. Over time, he has developed a painterly impasto style; using the texture of the paint and the shape of the brushwork, he gives each of his luminous landscapes its own reality, rather than allowing it to be a smooth window onto a world beyond. With a trademark soft palette and dramatic skies, the overall effect magically captures the textures, moods and changeable light of his native Scotland.
Philip is rapidly acquiring a loyal following of collectors both in the UK and abroad. “I tend to paint very private places for the viewer to own and enjoy; no people, no houses, no telegraph poles -just the driftwood of an ebb tide, mist tumbling on a distant hilltop and silence broken only by lapping water and gulls ascending.

Friday saw the team at breeze celebrate the launch of a wonderful new collection by renowned Scottish artist, Alexander Millar. Events held across the weekend in our Peebles, Edinburgh and Loch Lomond Shores galleries saw large numbers of interested customers and collectors desperate to view these new art works.
Coming to life, straight from Alex Millar’s paintings, were the colourful “Gadgie” characters who entertained and delighted those gathered for the events – causing havoc wherever they went!
As well as the new collection, also on display were some rare limited edition pieces, original oils and pencil sketches.
We also held a charity auction for a leather football, signed by Alexander Millar himself, used as the inspiration for some of the art work in his new collection.
The exhibition runs until the 5th of June. Call or visit your nearest gallery to view these works of art for yourself – but hurry, they will sell out fast!
