David Renshaw

David Renshaw
Come and meet the artist with the big heart DAVID RENSHAW
Breeze Jenners, Edinburgh, Saturday 21st April 2-5pm

David Renshaw loved painting from an early age and during school years, soon recognised that his artistic skills would determine his future. His creative ability led him to studying graphic design where he learned various types of media to create different artwork. Alongside his studying, he began painting commissions for people consisting for the most part of watercolours and pencil sketches.

His passion for art and graphic design led him on to becoming a picture framer for a local art gallery. Surrounded by fine artwork, ranging from old masters to contemporary works he was inspired to begin producing his own work.

David continued to work in the picture framing industry and made a career from it, but he knew deep down that this was not the life he wanted after working for many years in this industry David eventually decided it was time to follow his dreams and resigned from his career to concentrate on his artwork full time. David’s work hangs in private

collections across the UK, Europe, the USA and Canada.

Roz Bell

Roz Bell

Rozanne Bell (nee Marshall) was born in Zimbabwe in 1962 where she lived for 40 years. She exhibited her work all over southern Africa and, through tourism, an American market for her work evolved. As her style has evolved she has developed a strong international following.

In 2002, the political climate in Zimbabwe necessitated Rozanne’s move to England. The ability to adapt to a new environment coupled with her determination to succeed has created strong demand for her work here in the UK.

Roz has developed in her work a style and a technique which make each and every painting totally unique. Having had no formal art schooling, Rozanne cultivated her natural flair and talent that is so evident in her work.

Krzysztof Hendzel

Born in Poland and now living in the Scottish borders, Krzysztof is passionate about his painting, and he has been influenced by many of the great masters of the past. there are not many modern day artists that paint with such a brave colour pallette.

Words from the artist: What is painting? My painting. This is nothing like trying to stop reality in a specific way and give it a form of “life”. It’s not about trying to do this ideology, and discuss how it is affected by the consequences for others, since it is in my control and each subsequent image is only a vector specific for each emotion with whom the casual observer must face. A number of canvases and a series of individual paintings are currently held in private collections in different parts of the world (including the polish embassy in Vienna).

These are my own part of an extensive art collection of paintings depicting polish landscapes, still life’s and painting with borderline abstract symbolism, which, who knows, may become a leading trend. But regardless of the circumstances and what happens, landscapes remain an indissoluble part of my painting, giving it the characteristics of the broader “freedom” and deep breathing. Continuing the series of Scottish landscapes as well as the preliminary work on a series of abstract paintings from the series “promised land”, “Atlantis,” “door” and “spiritual angels” inclined me to the next level. In preparation and drafts of my own projects, there are further images from the series “journeys” and original woodwork and sculptures.

Barry Hilton

Barry Hilton

Painting and drawing have always played an important role in my life and although largely self taught, my semi professional career began painting alongside a group of extremely active artists in Cornwall under the guidance of Mr Leonard Rollason. Known affectionately through the art trade as “Rolli” it was he who mentored and kept me going through the early years of learning my trade.

Since those early days in Cornwall subject matter has come and gone though the demand for ships in harbours and victorian gas light street scenes continue.

Refusing to be stereotyped, I have always experimented with new subject matter and recently have had considerable success with beach scenes and landscape in a modern and contemporary style and, I am well represented in private galleries throughout the UK and Europe

“Yet another playing with time image. Of course they didn’t own iPods, but perhaps in a parallel universe….thankfully David Bailley produced wonderful photographs for lunatics like me to play with nearly half a century farther on. Not quite time for Apple, but I’m sure something would have been ticking in their minds. At this point they were coming towards their creative peak..”Revolver, Pepper, Abbey Road…WOW!!! I remember where I was when each was released.”

Bob Harper : Elvis – Straight from the heart

“Straight From Your Heart”

Towards the end of 1968 with a wife and new born to support, Elvis had to do something drastic to resurrect his faltering career. Leather clad, he performed a dynamic live TV Special, which triumphantly proved the catalyst that saw him through the rest of his life. For the next 8 years, despite faltering health, he performed over 1,100 concerts, essentially to fund his lavish lifestyle.
This image tries to capture how much he enjoyed himself at the outset of this crazy schedule, and to encapsulate his phenomenal magnetism.
Leather in black acrylic, white chalk and coloured pencils.

A small, landscape portrait of Bruce. He’s looking slightly down on us with an air of dismissal I think. Unusual, because I believe he is normally very open and friendly. The downward, splashed marks on the image are meant to be reminiscent of tears and sadness

Bob Harper : McCartney – ‘Paul in Words’

paul-in-words

“Paul In Words”

words from the artist:
A set of 3, minus Ringo, for the good reason that these are comprised largely of words written by the minds behind the features. The faces are Beatles at the peak of Beatlemania, the classic clean-cut Epstein image. I used sepia to create a nostalgic quality, like flicking through family albums from generations back. A decade is a long time, and these words contribute largely to the very fabric of my formative years. Every time I hear a Beatles’ song it takes me right to the moment in a memory. It’s a tool no generation prior to the recording industry has had at it’s disposal. For instance, when I hear “She Said, She Said” I recall Michelle on the banks of the Seine, a Parisienne I met in the summer of ’66… “Revolver” had just been released, and I was lucky enough to be in Paris where Klaus Voorman’s fantastic drawing was decorating every billboard in the French capital. She was beautiful and tolerant of my naive approaches, but at least we shared the Beatles.

“Another severely fragmented icon with that Classical eye looking over his empire. It’s easy to imagine Elvis in his prime, looking over the Bay of Athens, addressing crowds from the steps of the Parthenon. Whoever modelled for Michaelangelo while he grappled with “David” must have come from Tupelo, Tuscany.”
