My first love was for a pencil and then I discovered the fitba.
I was more blessed with the former, but it didn’t stop me dreaming about scoring the winner for Scotland at Wembley. Our first tele arrived in a box the size of a microwave (the screen no bigger than a matchbox) in the summer of 1958. My first match in crackling monochrome was the World Cup final from Stockholm featuring a young Pele’s first winner’s medal. At the age of 9 I’d become an addict, and nothing else in life mattered until I discovered the jukebox, pie-suppers, Elvis, the Beatles, beer and finally, women.
Art School brought the realisation that my body couldn’t consume vast quantities of beer, negotiate 90 minutes the following day, then go hunting the other sex after the final whistle. Something had to give and I’m afraid it was my fitness. My life on the terraces became a full time passion and my list of memories and burgeoning heroes began to multiply. These heroes will unfold over the coming months. I like to think I’m impartial and I can recognise raw ability from any quarter… I am capable of applauding a talent from any team when I see genius.
If I imagine my life as an earthquake chart, the peaks that fly off the Richterscale are those moments of madcap mania supplied by football and rock music. Dalglish’s goal v Spain on a soggy night at Hampden; the original Fleetwood Mac doing “Dust My Broom” in 1970 at the Aberdeen Music Hall; Maradona’s legal goal against England; the Boss at Hampden last year (where I was moved to tears); McFad’s scorcher in Paris; the opening chord of “Hard Day’s Night” and on and on. Without this growing catalogue my life, and most likely yours, would have flatlined corpse-like.
We’re here to enjoy it, and these “greats” have enhanced our time on this little blue marble.

Words from the artist: Jock Stein, Glasgow Celtic
Every time I saw Jock Stein I was struck by his air of humility. It seemed to surround him. His honesty made him care, and he would have been a blinding success in any career he decided upon.
In this painting the secondary image is Jock Stein’s torso emerging from the Parkhead tunnel. Nobody else has ever worn the hoops like that.
His tactical brain was a generation ahead of his peers, and the quotes I’ve used demonstrate how far-sighted he was as a human being.
Look into those eyes. There’s a sincerity about the man that you wouldn’t get from a full-blown course in Divinity.
And finally, a team born and bred within walking distance of their ground will never win any trophy ever again. Not even Tetley Tea Bag Conference Division 8 minor league.

Breeze Art Director talks about Anna Razumovskaya’s style of art ahead of her visit to the Glasgow gallery. Watch the video.
This will be the first appearance by Anna in Scotland. The collection of work that will be on display will be truly outstanding. We will have the largest collection of Anna’s work ever seen in the UK with both hand embellished limited editions and originals.
Anna will be signing her book at the event, and there are a small number of the special edition copies which contain two signed limited edition pencil sketch studies. These will only be available at the event and the books will be signed on the day with dedications.
Breeze were one of the first galleries in the UK to display Anna’s work and therefore Anna’s is particularly excited to meet her Scottish collectors.

We were delighted to welcome one of our newest artists, David Renshaw, to our Glasgow gallery earlier this month.
We have uploaded some photos from the event which saw David exhibit his outstanding collection of new original artworks onto our Facebook page. We hope everyone enjoyed the exhibition and if you didn’t manage to visit, you can view his current originals collection online.
“A big thank you to all who attended the exhibition on Saturday, it was a real pleasure to meet everyone in Glasgow.” David Renshaw
We attended the CHAS Easter bash to raise money for this great cause at the Hilton in Glasgow. Over 500 people attended the bash and 75k was raised on the night. We along with Bob Harper donated the portrait of Paolo Nutini, which had been signed by Paolo following his appearance at the Paisley town hall gig last year.
Bob Corsie and Janice Walter were joined by Bob Harper and his wife along with guests at the Hilton hotel in Glasgow for the now annual fundraising event.
This is a further example how Bob Harpers work is growing in demand.
Photos of the event are now available on our Facebook page.
Van Matino was born in Kyungbook, Korea in 1955. He was raised with an appreciation for nature and for simplicity. After graduating from Dong-Kook University with a degree in philosophy, Van Matino strived to incorporate his heritage and education into his artwork. In the years following his graduation, he went on to receive the main prize for the Korean Arts Grand Exhibition in 1979 as well as the Golden Prize for the MBC Grand Art Exhibition in 1980. He also participated in the Exhibition of Mokwoo Artists of Korean Oil Paintings Association, the Five Korea-Japan Exchange Exhibition, and the Fine Arts Exhibition in Seoul, Korea. By the time he reached his early twenties Van Matino had become a solid member of local art exhibitions.
Van Matino takes everyday objects and elements of nature to create striking compositions. From the artist’s perspective, his paintings strive to display harmony. His beautifully balanced compositions place light and shadow against a simple yet rich palette. The combination creates a unified whole; sometimes whimsical, sometimes intense, and sometimes serene. Matino’s paintings always leave the viewer feeling complete. His heritage and harmony show through to create exceptional works of art.
Currently, Van Matinois a member of both the Mokwoo Artist and the Korean Fine Art Associations. He has held countless exhibitions, including the National Fine Art Exhibition, Annual Korean Oil Painting Exhibition, Asian Modern Art Exhibition.

Victor Del Castillo was born in Lima, Peru, in 1968. At the age of three, a trip to el Callejon de Huaylas became his first source of inspiration. The rich and deep colors of the sky and landscape moved him to draw and paint a sketch. Despite his young age, the quality of the drawing was such that his parents were convinced he would become another da Vinci.
At the age of 17, Del Castillo joined the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Lima. After reviewing the different painting schools, Victor experiments and tries impressionism, fauvism, abstraction and informalism to end up at his graduation with realism.
His main subject, the still life, is given a special sense and sentiment by which the trivial elements become alive. It is as if every fruit he paints represents a state of the human soul.
Victor has participated in a long list of exhibitions and is being collected by serious and well-known art collectors.
